I hit the road this past weekend to do shows at Toby Keith’s Bar and Grill in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. I did 2 sets each night and was so excited about the crowds both nights. I got to mix in some original songs that are on my new CD (available soon) and it was great to see the crowd getting up and dancing! I’m coming back to Nashville next week to start rehearsing for the Conway Twitty Musical that I currently touring with….our next stop is Branson, MO Oct. 19-24. I’m the luckiest girl in the world to get to do this for a living! I hope to see you on the road somewhere soon!

This past weekend the Conway Twitty Musical opened for George Jones. It was a weekend Amber said she will never forget! The first night Nancy Jones, George’s wife, and most of George Jones’ band and crew watched the musical from the wings. At one point Amber looked over and saw Nancy crying! At times while Amber was doing her dialogue some of the fans would just yell out things like “We miss you Conway” and “Conway is a legend”. She feels so fortunate to be a part of bringing Conway Twitty music back to his fans. Amber said ” I found myself getting goosebumps listening to the crowd respond to the music that we were singing and the story we were telling”. After the first show, Amber got to meet George Jones and get her picture taken with him! He was so nice and Amber was quite honored to get to spend a minute with him.
There were a couple of guys from George Jones’ band that were working for George when he was touring with Conway and during one of the pre-show meals they told the cast some great stories about Conway. They remembered Conway coming off his bus in his baseball cap and jumpsuits and that he would frequently eat dinner and hang out with the band and crew before the shows. They said that Conway was very down to earth and that he was always so nice. The musical cast loved hearing those stories…
The second show was great too! George Jones, from the wings, watched most of the show. George and Nancy asked Amber, Glen (Conway), and Emily (Loretta) to join George on his last song of the night, ”I Don’t Need Your Rocking Chair”. ”Getting to sing with George Jones…it doesn’t get much better than that! Emily and I were just in awe and were looking at each other like is this really happening! That’s a moment I will never forget”, Amber said. George Jones’ crew and band were so accommodating and nice…just a pleasure to be around them. She is looking forward to many more life changing opportunities for the entire cast and band! Stay tuned!!!

Check out this week’s Country Weekly magazine! There’s a picture of Amber and the rest of the cast of the Conway Twitty Musical with Wynonna. Getting to meet her was a big deal to Amber! She grew up singing “Grandpa” and “Have Mercy” and got a chance to tell Wynonna how much she loves her and The Judds.
