CONWAY TWITTY BEHIND THE SCENES

October 16, 2008 3:19pm

Last night Cathryn and I went to the grand opening of the new Conway Twitty Musical "It's Only Make Believe".  It was an awesome show and Cathryn will be filling in more of the details about the show and it's performers soon.

One performer who I wanted to mention briefly is Amber Hayes.  She plays one of Conway's daughters (Kathy) in the play and she was really good.  I had met Amber several weeks ago when she became a friend on myspace.  She's the kind of artists I look for when looking for artists to feature on NashvilleHype! and I wrote her to ask what she had going on professionally.  She wrote back a simple note to say she was in this play - apparently not thinking I might know about it (NashvilleHype! was the first contact by the casting directors to get the word out about auditions).  I didn't say anything back to her other than I'd see her on the red carpet.

Well, I didn't see her on the red carpet - but I did get a chance to talk with her for a minute at the after party.  She's really sweet and excited about this show (she should be after what we witnessed).   This show is going to tour all over the country, and if writer/director Randy Johnson's last show, "Always, Patsy Cline", is any indication (it ran for 10 years), she's going to be touring for a while.  But when she's not touring, and doing other things in Nashville, I'll try and let everyone know.
